Greensboro, NC based Jim Rientjes loves building things. A former woodworker and furniture maker, he has been making pottery full time since 2006. His functional, red earthenware pieces are created by hand with slab rollers, extruders, molds and templates. Forms are purposely 'imperfect', and simply decorated with designs and patterns from found objects or cutting tools. Traditional glazing techniques are poured or dipped, enhancing and defining shape and structure.
