Elizabeth Davant started art lessons as early as 12 years old and spent her teenage years taking as many classes as possible. She went on to receive a degree in Fine Art from Loyola University of Chicago, but after graduation found she was anxious about creating and sharing her work. She found satisfaction working in galleries and decided to focus on a career in art administration.
While working in galleries, Elizabeth realized she was not alone in her creative anxieties and wanted to help people learn ways to manage the emotions that can block one from their goals. She returned to school, earning a MA in community counseling, with a certificate in expressive art therapy, from Appalachian State University. After a decade working as a counselor, she returned to creating and sharing her own work. As a counselor, she partnered with clients to explore the multiple layers of their lives, constructing a narrative that honored the whole self and bringing clarity to life. As an artist, she enjoys the process of watching a visual story coming together, with images and details that remind her of the ever changing story of our lives and the world.
