Elizabeth Davant's creative journey began with studio art classes early in her childhood, continuing through high school and into college. Her path led to a career in arts administration, and eventually as a mental health counselor, using art as a healing tool to rediscover the peace of creativity. After a decade of working as licensed professional counselor, Elizabeth decided the time had come to return to and explore her own creative process.
The natural world, specifically, the Appalachian Mountains, inspires Elizabeth Davant's artwork. Fog lifting from the mountains and the way rain and mist blur the atmosphere and image remind her of the ever changing story of our lives. Using cold wax and oil, Elizabeth manipulates the painted surface, revealing past and present through layers of color and texture.
"There is no greater tool to calm the mind than to be surrounded by nature. I want my work to feel relaxing, peaceful and foster a sense of connection. I hope to achieve this by grounding the viewer to the natural world with soft transient images." ~ Elizabeth Davant, Charlotte NC
