Julie Covington

Julie Covington began working with clay as a teenager, and continued her studies of ceramics and sculpture in college at UNC-Asheville. Upon graduating her interest in living a handmade life led her to work on a larger scale. She spent several years in Thailand and New Mexico gaining experience with indigenous architecture using clay, sand and straw. Today Julie lives in Western, NC. She is surrounded and inspired by artists, musicians and farmers that fill their days living passionately with as many handcrafted items as possible. Her connection to the earth is evident in her wheel thrown and altered stoneware pottery.
"I aim to create simple, sturdy tableware that feels and looks pretty good, and is equally at home on an intimate dinner table or on the floor of an old pick-up truck." ~ Julie Covington, Weaverville NC
