Raised in a log cabin in the woods, Kim Ferreira now lives in Portsmouth, NH. She has been painting in oils for over twenty years. A formally trained artist, Kim received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of New Hampshire in 2002. Soon after she opened an art gallery in downtown Portsmouth, NH, which she owned and operated for ten years. (Fun fact: Kim’s gallery was an inspiration when we were working towards opening Lark & Key back in 2008.)
After owning the gallery, Kim was ready to put her heart and soul into other things - including her own artwork. Since the birth of her daughter in 2017, Kim’s paintings have focused on animals doing human things in idyllic settings, reminiscent of Rococo paintings. She calls the series ‘Joie de Vivre’, a French term used to describe the exuberant enjoyment of life. She still fumbles with the pronunciation, and still loves exploring different ways of honoring the little things that mean so much.
