Martha finds inspiration from stories found in myth and folklore about native plants, animals, and especially birds.
"Native American cultures believed that owls could send messages from their ancestors to warn them. Early Romans believed that owl feathers placed next to a sleeping person could induce them to reveal their deepest secrets upon waking.
In Greek mythology, ravens are considered to possess the gift of prophesy and to act as messengers and the keepers of secrets."
