Martha finds inspiration from stories found in myth and folklore about native plants, animals, and especially birds.
"The Celtic people viewed the hare as a creature with supernatural powers and strong links to the underworld as well as the fairies living underground. Hares were utilized by the Druids in prophesying future events.
In Native American cultures, the moth is seen as a guardian spirit, offering guidance and protection. The name “polyphemus” comes from the one-eyed giant in Homer’s Odyssey, representing strength and resilience in Greek mythology."
