Birds have long been seen as symbolic messengers across different cultures. Depending on the type of bird, they may carry a variety of messages such as hope, peace, freedom, joy, wisdom and new beginnings. This painting features a sandhill crane with geranium flower (aka cranesbill), a rainbow starfrontlet hummingbird, two barn swallows with a compass, a crow with a pocket watch, a lark with keys, a turtle dove with an olive branch, and a ground finch on top of its symbiotic companion - a galpagos tortoise.
