"The thing with paintings is that they are open to interpretation. At first glance, it is a wolf guarding an entrance. However, for me, it can be symbolic of guarding a tranquil interior. The poison ivy plants deter entrance, and they cannot poison the nature of a sacred space. Gold, especially in the Renaissance, denoted sacredness; the sky could be gilded to infer a more Heavenly site. In these days, we should always guard our peaceful interiors, and the wolf inside of us can be the sentinel." - Diane
