Sharon Cosgrove is an award-winning artist whose creative practice is anchored in her studio near the banks of the Susquehanna River in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. A dedicated full-time professional, Sharon draws inspiration from the rhythms of nature, the changing seasons, the play of light and shadow, and the beauty she finds in lyrical poetry and prose. Her work offers a visual sanctuary, where the viewer can pause to find solace in the gentle interplay of light and shadow, with the silent narratives they weave.

“I paint candlelight to study how a small, steady flame can illuminate an entire space.  This special collection has taken years to build: each winter solstice I begin a new candle painting, using the longest night as a ritual starting point—when darkness is most present, and the renewal of longer daylight begins.  I return to the candle as both a specific object and a shared symbol of celebration and devotion, wishes and romance, remembrance and grief."
