Diane Hoeptner began her creative career with a BA in Studio Arts at Cal State Northridge, then worked as an animator for video games and film. Today she is best known for her oil paintings inspired by the ethereal beauty of florals and animals, primarily cats. She finds cats to be the perfect embodiment of sweetness and snark, and portraying them in a way that doesn’t reduce them to sentiment is very important to her. She is dazzled by the variety of outcomes that can be achieved within still life painting, and influenced by her inner 'design junky'.Visual components like opposites on the color wheel or the passage of dark to light are springboards for her compositions.
"As long as flowers spring from the earth and cats frolic, I indulge. Life is good and I hope my paintings communicate that sentiment in a way the viewer can feel.” ~ Diane Hoeptner, Kirkland OH
